Ingredients
  1. 2 tablespoons salt
  2. 2 tablespoons garlic powder
  3. 2 tablespoons onion powder
  4. 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
  5. 2 teaspoons ground red pepper
  6. 1 (5-pound) Boston butt
  7. ¼ cup vegetable oil
  8. 4 to 6 cups water
  9. Hamburger buns
  10. Cole Slaw and Barbecue Sauce to serve
  11. Garnish: dill pickle slices
Instructions
  1. In a medium bowl, combine salt, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and red pepper.
  2. Rub pork with oil. Rub spice mixture evenly on pork, coating all sides. Place pork in a slow cooker. Add 4 to 6 cups water, until water is three-quarters way up side of pork.
  3. Cover, and cook on low for 8 to 10 hours. Remove pork from liquid, reserving about 1 cup cooking liquid to moisten meat, if desired. Remove bones and fat. Shred meat. Serve on hamburger buns with Three-Color Slaw, Classic Barbecue Sauce, and pickles.
