VIDEO: J.Q. Dickinson Salt-Works

Join Taste of the South Editor Brooke Bell in our Southern Pantry video series as she visits J.Q. Dickinson Salt-Works outside Charleston, West Virginia, to learn how they produce artisan, small-batch salt. From pulling brine out of a prehistoric sea under the Kanawha Valley to hand-harvesting salt crystals with locally made wood rakes and scoops, J.Q. Dickinson is preserving their family’s history and the history of the area. Learn even more about J.Q. Dickinson Salt-Works and the people who use their products in our story from our May/June issue.

  1. Thank you so much for sharing this video of salt making process in West Virginia. I always enjoy finding these great stories of products made in the USA! We carry many products from small businesses such as this one and are always looking for more to feature on our website. We definitely will be looking at carrying some of this salt.
