This Simple French Toast is as delicious as it is easy to prepare.
Simple French Toast
Yields: 2-3 Servings
Ingredients
- 2⁄3 cup whole milk
- 1⁄2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1⁄4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1⁄8 teaspoon salt
- 3 large eggs
- 4 tablespoons butter, divided
- 6 thick slices day-old bread, such as Texas Toast, divided
- Garnish: confectioners’ sugar
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, whisk together milk, vanilla, cinnamon, salt, and eggs.
- In a large nonstick skillet, melt 2 tablespoons butter over medium-high heat, swirling to coat pan. Dip 3 bread slices in egg mixture; place in pan. Reduce heat to medium; cook until golden brown, approximately 2 minutes per side. Place on a serving plate. Repeat procedure with remaining butter, bread, and egg mixture. Garnish with confectioners’ sugar, if desired.
I am from the South and lived here for 47 years. I have never seen anyone put sugar on their French Toast.
