White barbecue sauce is an icon to its native Alabama, and these chicken burgers do it justice.
Alabama Barbecue Chicken Burgers

Ingredients
- 1 (16-ounce) bag coleslaw mix
- White Barbecue Sauce (recipe follows), divided
- 2 pounds extra-lean ground chicken
- 2 teaspoons prepared horseradish
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- Brioche burger buns, to serve
Instructions
- Preheat grill to medium-high heat (350° to 400°). Place a sheet of foil or a grill pan over grill grates.
- In a large bowl, combine slaw mix and ⅓ cup White Barbecue Sauce.
- In another large bowl, combine chicken, horseradish, garlic, salt, paprika, and Worcestershire. Divide mixture into 6 portions, and shape each portion into a patty.
- Place patties on foil or grill pan; grill, with grill lid closed, for 4 to 6 minutes per side. Serve burgers on buns with slaw mixture and remaining White Barbecue Sauce.
White Barbecue Sauce
Yields: 1¼ Cups
Ingredients
- 1 cup mayonnaise*
- ¼ cup apple cider vinegar
- 2 teaspoons water
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon horseradish sauce
- ½ teaspoon kosher salt
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
- ¼ teaspoon hot sauce
Instructions
- In a small bowl, combine all ingredients until combined. Refrigerate in a glass jar for up to 1 week.
