If you are anything like us, you plan your vacation around food. Some call it “gastro-tourism.” We call it “We love food, and want to taste all of it.”

If it’s a culinary journey you are looking for, Southwest Louisiana has the vacation for you!

First on the menu, boudin. They serve it for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It’s the ultimate finger food. You can sample this meat and rice treat along the Southwest Louisiana Boudin Trail. There are over 30 stops and even more recipes. While you’re at it – make sure to pick up some fresh cracklins’.

For a full flavor experience, you’ve got to pair your meals with a few local libations. Wet your whistle with Bayou Rum, made with 100 percent natural, unrefined Louisiana cane sugar and molasses. If you are more a brew fan, Southwest Louisiana has you covered with two local breweries: Crying Eagle Brewing Company and Rikenjaks Brewing Company.

One thing we always enjoy is finding the restaurants the locals love. With so many outstanding eateries in Southwest Louisiana, we are not sure how anyone can choose! The Top 20 Local Favorites can be your guide to find the perfect breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner spot. Note: Make sure you stay long enough to experience each meal time at least twice.
