Slow Cooker Greens with Tomatoes

These simple greens are braised low and slow to produce 
tender and flavorful collards.

Slow Cooker Greens with Tomatoes
 
Yields: 6-8 servings
Ingredients
  • 8 cups chopped collard greens
  • 1 (28-ounce) can plum tomatoes, drained and crushed
  • 2 cups diced yellow onion
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 ½ tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon minced fresh garlic
  • 2½ teaspoons kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon hot sauce
  • ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
Instructions
  1. In a 6-quart slow cooker, combine collard greens, tomatoes, onion, broth, sugar, vinegar, garlic, salt, hot sauce, and pepper. Place a paper towel over top of slow cooker insert.
  2. Cover and cook on low for 4 hours, stirring halfway through.
