Tips for throwing the “Best Party on the Block”:
- Serve good food. You want good food that's relatively easy to prepare. Couple your dishes with chips, popcorn, soft drinks, and beer along with other stand-by favorites, and you're sure to please everyone at your party.
- Invite both male and female friends. There's nothing worse than being the only woman at a Super Bowl party, especially if she is not a fan of sports.
- Be organized, and plan ahead. You don't want to have to leave the party because you’ve run out of a necessity, such as soft drinks. So make a list, a timeline, and a budget so that you can stay on schedule.
- Have different areas in your house for people to hang out. You'll want a place where the “nonsports” people can sit around, visit, and relax away from the big game. Have another TV on hand to keep this group entertained.
- Get help from friends. Dole out duties, such as cooking and party decorating, to friends who offer to help. This will take some of the pressure off and make the party more fun for everyone.
- Rent a big-screen TV if you don't have one. One TV for a large group may make it difficult for everyone to see. If you can't rent a big-screen, strategically place a few more TVs around the house to make it easy for everyone to see.
- Jazz things up! Decorate the house with some streamers in the teams' colors and a few other team decorations to make party-goers feel more like they’re part of the action.
- Assign designated drivers. Ensure that nothing bad happens to your guests by having people prepared to drive others home, and make sure no one who has been drinking drives. Police officers will be out in force.
- Have a kids’ room. Being able to bring children will be a boon to getting guests to come to your party. Stock the kids’ room with games, toys, and treats, as well as a TV for those who would like to watch the big game.
