Strawberries in Winter
Step One
To separate the egg white from the egg yolk, gently crack the eggshell and pull the two halves apart over a bowl.
5 things we learned about strawberries in Plant City, Florida:
- They must be picked at full ripeness because they will not ripen further after they are picked.
- They should be washed just before eating so they don’t become waterlogged.
- They should be stemmed after washing so water doesn’t penetrate the fruit.
- They taste best at room temperature.
- You can’t judge a strawberry by its color. Just as there are varieties of apples, there are varieties of strawberries. And each variety has different characteristics: color, shape, texture, size, and taste. So, a light red berry might actually be sweeter than a dark red one.
