1½ cups all-purpose flour
¼ cup firmly packed light brown sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
¼ teaspoon salt
4½ tablespoons chilled unsalted butter, cut into ¼-inch cubes
½ cup plus 2 tablespoons whipping cream, divided
½ teaspoon vanilla extract
1 tablespoon sugar

1. Preheat oven to 350°. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone pan liner; set aside.

2. In a large bowl, combine flour, brown sugar, baking powder, and salt. Using a pastry blender, cut in butter until mixture is crumbly. Add ½ cup whipping cream, stirring until dough is just combined.

3. Turn out onto a floured surface and roll to ½-inch thickness. Using a 3-inch round cutter, cut biscuits, rerolling dough once, if necessary. Place 2 inches apart on prepared baking sheet. Brush tops with remaining 2 tablespoons whipping cream and sprinkle with sugar.

4. Bake for approximately 20 minutes, or until lightly browned.
